anfachen award / Through creative design the Anfachen Award aims to evoke important topics and set the impetus for action. In the face of debate over gender, global refugee flows and a resurgent right-wing populist scene the award held their competition 2017 under the slogan „Tolerance“.
My submission to the award were two posters, one in English the other one in German, that challenged the idea of tolerance. Tolerance implies that one is willing to bear other peoples beliefs and values that do not conform to one's own. Acceptance on the other hand is more inclusive. To practise acceptance means to respect the differences in the way people live their lives without being judgmental of their religion, sexuality, cultural background and so on.
